ZAC EFRON : 'SAYING NO TO FOOTLOOSE WAS A TOUGH CALL'
Turning down the chance to lead the updated FOOTLOOSE film was the
hardest call ZAC EFRON has ever had to make.
The High School Musical star was the first actor attached to the
remake, but had to turn the lead role down after realising the new
version would not live up to the original, which starred Kevin Bacon.
He tells Details magazine, "All the things I loved about Footloose I
couldn't find in the project. They just weren't there. I couldn't see
myself doing it."
And then he had to tell High School Musical creator Kenny Ortega he
didn't want to be a part of the movie: "I love Kenny with all my
heart, it was literally the hardest phone call I've ever made."
