Sarah Jessica Parker is expecting twin daughters through a surrogate
pregnancy.
The 'Sex and the City' star, who already has a six-year-old son James Wilkie
with husband Matthew Broderick, is thrilled at the prospect of welcoming the
two girls later this year.
The couple's spokesperson said: "They are happily anticipating the birth of
their twin daughters later this summer with the generous help of a
surrogate. The entire family is overjoyed."
Friends say the couple - whose marriage was rocked last year by claims
Matthew had cheated on Sarah - have been desperate to add to their family
since the birth of James and after several failed attempts they turned to a
surrogate.
One said: "After a lot of unsuccessful tries, they came to the conclusion a
surrogate was the best alternative.
"They're over the moon and excited as any prospective parents would be.
Their life is about to get a lot busier."
Sarah - who accompanied her husband to the premiere of his new film
'Wonderful World' in New York - has previously spoken
of her desire to have a daughter as she has been saving her designer clothes
and accessories for her.
Speaking soon after James' birth, she said: "I want 'The Girl' as soon as
possible. I've been saving all my things for her. Everything - crazy Judith
Leiber handbags, Manolos - every single pair. I learned early on that if a
designer gave me something and it said 'Kate Moss' in the waistband, I
should keep it. And if it's a boy, I'll give it to his girlfriend... if he's
heterosexual."
The 44-year-old actress is not the first celebrity to use a surrogate mother
to have a baby.
Last year, Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly became the proud parents of twins
Thomas and Zoe, who were born with the help of a surrogate.
