Chris Brown says he is “sorry and saddened”
Chris Brown says he is “sorry and saddened” after being arrested for
allegedly beating Rihanna.
The 19-year-old singer – who has been charged with making criminal threats
following the reported violent attack on the ‘Umbrella’ singer last week –
is seeking counselling and insists he is dedicating to becoming a “better
person”.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Chris said: “Words cannot begin to
express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the
counselling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed,
with God's help, to emerging a better person.”
Chris is accused of attacking Rihanna in his car following a pre-Grammys
party, leaving her with “horrific” injuries including a split lip, bloody
nose and facial bruising.
Chris insists some of what has been reported – including claims he updated
his profile on social networking site Facebook to say people would soon see
her “true colours” – about the incident is untrue.
The statement continued: “Much of what has been speculated or reported on
blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able
to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I
can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to
Facebook, on blogs or any place else.
“Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”
Meanwhile, Jay-Z has offered his support to Rihanna.
The rapper – who helped Rihanna launch her career – said: “This is a real
situation. You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being
your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that.
“I just think we should all support her. She's going through a tough time.
You have to realise she's a young girl, as well. She's very young.”
Rihanna’s father Ronald Fenty has assured fans the singer is recovering
well, saying she will “be alright”.
He said: “At some point, she will speak out. I hope she will stand up for
women all over the world.”
