Reese Witherspoon: 'I'm not extravagant. I'm not frivolous or carefree' Reese Witherspoon is thankful for the financial security her career brings, but she is not so keen on the invasion into her private life, SS reports. She explains, "I love what I do, but I find the attention very tough, especially for my children. I'm very, very grateful for my career and what it means in terms of financial comforts, but I'm very down to earth. I'm a Southerner from Nashville, you know - we're nice people. "The South is a spiritual place - it's about the ritual of family togetherness and singing and storytelling. It's a community that takes care of people and has a lot of respect and compassion for each other. I hope I haven't lost that." Witherspoon also insisted she isn't particularly extravagant. She added, "I'm responsible, I'm not extravagant. I'm not frivolous or carefree. I haven't been a young girl for a long time, because I started work so young and I had children young. "Someone asked me: 'Do you have a chef?' And I said: 'Yes, her name is Reese.' I didn't grow up with money and I don't think I've changed. Money isn't terribly important to me, I give most of it away. I like nice dresses, though - for the red carpet." |
