Jessica Simpson booed during her first country music concert
The 28-year-old blonde launched her new sound at the Country Thunder
Festival in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, but the show didn’t go well.
As well as showcasing material from her forthcoming album Jessica - who was
dressed in tiny shorts, cowboy boots and a tight white shirt - also
performed covers of country tracks including Willie Nelson's ‘On the Road
Again’ and Shania Twain's ‘Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’, but the
unimpressed audience heckled the singer throughout.
One spectator, Adam Matos, claimed she “wasn’t good enough”.
He told the Kenosha News newspaper: “I just don’t hear the country in her. I
don’t hear the twang. She’s not good enough to be here.”
Jessica – who is dating American football player Tony Romo - tried to win
over the crowd between songs, saying: “I don’t know what your perception is
of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that
I’m just a girl from Texas. I’m just like you. I’m doing what I love and
dating a boy.”
