With her career at a standstill, struggling star Lindsay Lohan has turned to a different addiction to combat her out-of-work misery — binge eating, NW reports.

Speaking to a US publication recently, the former bulimic confessed she's been using food to escape her anxiety, revealing she was recently so desperate for a sugar fix she got up at 4am to eat an entire cake.

"I was in the kitchen like a little animal [thinking] 'It's so good, I should throw it out,'" she confesses.

The 21-year-old admits her stalled career is her main concern, and many believe it's taking a toll on her.

"I was so used to working ... and for a good few months there was nothing for me to do," she says. "Now I know what it's like to be an out-of-work actor, and how much it scares me."
