Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently settled in Austin, Texas, as Brad films the drama Tree of Life but there’s still plenty of movement at their Los Feliz, Calif., home, LIFE & STYLE WEEKLY reports.
Brad’s top security guard, Richard Malchar, is asking the city of LA to make the couple’s neighborhood a safer place to live for their four young children.
On its surface, the petition which Brad has already signed asks to limit parking on the street to residents who have permits. “But this is all really about the shooting,” says an insider connected to Brad and Angelina’s security team, referring to the frightening incident last November when shots were fired outside the couple’s home and a security van was hit. “It terrified Brad and Angelina.”
Brad, 44, and Angelina, 32, have not attended any neighborhood meetings regarding the petition yet, but they have sent their security guard Richard. “He actually calls the neighborhood watch meetings,” resident Sharon Buch tells Life & Style. Brad and Angie, who have faced kidnapping threats in the past, “want the street to be purely for those who have a permit this way not just anybody can park outside their gate waiting for them to come out.”
As of press time, 275 residents had signed the petition. “This is a nice neighborhood, but because of the bars and restaurant down the road, there are some bad elements making their way up here,” another resident, John Buch, tells Life & Style. “There’s a danger of violence and possible drug dealing and sexual activity.” Indeed, Brad and Angelina seem to have a lot of reasons to amp up security these days. “Brad’s on top of the situation,” a second insider close to the couple insists. “But he and Angelina feel they just can’t take a chance on anything happening to them or their children.”
