Usher called off wedding because he wanted his mother there

It looks like Usher is a mama’s boy after all. The R&B star fired his mother Jonetta Patton from her role as his manager last May, a decision many attribute to her disapproval of his relationship with his stylist Tameka Foster. But when Usher called off his wedding to Tameka on Saturday, sources say it was because he didn’t want to get married without his mother there.

A source told the New York Daily News, "The reason he called off the ceremony is that he couldn't go through with it without Jonetta. He had an eleventh-hour epiphany." Jonetta was not initially invited to the wedding, but Tameka relented and let Usher invite her last week. Jonetta declined the last minute invitation.

The insider says Usher seemed to be doing fine on Thursday, when he had his bachelor party. On Friday, however, "he started having second thoughts again. He was obviously troubled that Jonetta wasn't coming."

Another snitch said the worrying continued until "Usher woke up on Saturday and said he couldn't go through with it. Apparently, he also couldn't bring himself to call all the people who were invited. He had the wedding planner call everyone in the wedding party."

When Foster heard that Usher had called off the wedding, "she was marching around, cursing," one source said.
