The mother of Gavin Rossdale's love child speaks out

Gwen Stefani seems like she has the perfect life. She's a knockout with a great career and a loving family. But is her husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale a deadbeat dad? That's what Pearl Lowe, the mother of his 18-year-old daughter Daisy says.

When Daisy was conceived, Pearl believed that the child's father was an American dietician whom she'd been dating. Not long after Daisy's birth, the dietician was out of the picture. Still around, though, was Gavin. Pearl had had a one night stand with Gavin and he was also named Daisy's godfather.

Fast forward several years. As Pearl and Gavin watch Daisy grow, they start noticing similarities between Daisy and Gavin. The tall 14-year-old looked nothing like the dietician who Pearl suspected was her father. Lowe explained the situation to the London Times: "Gavin came to me saying I think we need to find this out. But when we set up meetings to have DNA tests he didn't show up. And it got weird and he stopped returning my calls."

Since then, Pearl went to court to force Gavin to take a DNA test. The test proved that he was, in fact, Daisy's father. But Rossdale did not contribute any child support and Pearl sued him for Daisy's school costs. She says, "This guy's a millionaire, he can at least give Danny [Goffey - her partner] back the money he's spent."

Pearl claims Gavin's refusal to accept his parental duties has rocked their family. She says, "It's been a traumatic time for us. I lost my best friend, Daisy lost her godfather and doesn't have a dad. And she lost self-worth. Because when someone rejects you like that, you wonder what's wrong with you. I really don't care if I never see him ever again. He's been incredibly vile. He saw Daisy at first, but he was always rude to her, he made it feel like it was her fault. It was her 18th birthday and there was no present, no phone call, nothing. And when he had his baby with Gwen, Daisy's half-brother, he didn't even tell her. She's never seen the baby. Not to take responsibility and not to let your daughter even meet her grandparents and see her heritage is pretty sick."
