Eva Longoria and Tony Parker wed in civil ceremony
They did it: Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are now officially man and wife. But they won't be heading for a honeymoon yet, tomorrow is their church wedding and reception. Today they wed in a civil ceremony conducted at City Hall in Paris. Images Splash News A spokesperson for the city told People magazine, "They are married. They were married here by the Mayor of Paris, Monsieur Bertrand Delanoë." Delanoë himself told People, "Their international reputations cannot escape me – but for me they are just Eva and Tony – two young people, very appealing, who love each other and who are at a very important moment in their life." Eva arrived at City Hall in style in a white stretch limo around 2:45 p.m. Accompanying the 32-year-old "Desperate Housewives" star were about eight other women who were wearing pink, purple and cream dresses and Chanel ribbons and rosettes on their wrists. Longoria was wearing a pink Chanel haute couture dress (the white version has been worn by Lindsay Lohan and Lily Allen). According to Dominique Bertinotti, the mayor of Paris's 4th District, Longoria changed into a short white dress for the actual ceremony. Longoria's groom, 25-year-old San Antonio Spurs point guard Parker followed behind his bride ten minutes later in a gray minivan. He wore a dark suit. The newlyweds left City Hall around 4:30 p.m. in the stretch limo, which had a white floral bouquet on the back. About 250 guests are expected at the couple's religious ceremony on Saturday. Some of the famous attendees are expected to include "Desperate Housewives" co-stars, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Nicollette Sheridan, James Denton and Ricardo Chavira. Show creator Marc Cherry and other A-listers like Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jessica Alba and Cash Warren are also on the guest list. An insider told People, "It's going to be a fairy-tale wedding." And like any fairy tale should, the reception will take place in a palace: the Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte. The source said, "the big color theme is red." According to Us Weekly, "Eva is expected to dress up as [Marie Antoinette] the former queen of France, who was eventually beheaded. |
