Why Avril Lavigne Hates Britney Spears

The Canadian singer's mom made her watch an entire evening of Spears’ singing, she told Jane magazine.

"My mom made me go to a Britney Spears concert when I was young,� said Lavigne. “I was like, 'No I don't want to.' She was like, 'If you're going to be a performer, you need to see other people.'"

Over the weekend, Avril Lavigne claimed Britney Spears was to blame for her recent meltdown because she's too weak to handle her fame.

The Sk8r Boi star says, "What's happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it.
"You can't complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness because that's the job."

Lavigne adds that she is able to live a relatively normal life - by concealing her private life from the press reports Teen Hollywood. She says, "No one really gets to know."
