Angelina Jolie will have adoption decision by the end of the month

Despite having recently told reporters that Angelina Jolie would not be given special treatment in her adoption of a 3 1/2-year-old Vietnamese boy, the director of Vietnam's International Adoption Department, Vu Duc Long is now claiming that the actress could have custody of the child no later than the end of the month. Long had previously stated that Angelina might have to wait as many as three months before the adoption process was finished.

Last week Long said, "[Jolie] will have to follow procedure like any other American." However, contradicting himself, the official also stated, "A celebrated person is certainly treated a little bit different from others," reports Us Weekly.

Jolie's special treatment has fast-tracked the adoption process through the Vietnamese system. Long says that officials looking over her adoption papers should have their decision by March 31. Once approval is given, Angelina will have three weeks to come to Vietnam and claim the child.

Jolie picked out the child from the Tam Binh Orphan Centre several months ago. The Centre's director, Nguyen Van Trung told the Associated Press, "[The child] is in good health. He is a little bit shy." Trung says that the boy likes soccer and gets along well with the other children in the Centre. He wound up at the orphanage after his parents abandoned him at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
