America Ferrara is a star!

In the March 2007 Issue of Latina Magazine , Golden Globe-winning America Ferrara tells how in just four years, she catapulted herself to stardom.

Ferrara talks about why she loves the role of Betty in hit ABC series, Ugly Betty. “I knew instantly what made [Yo Soy Betty, la Fea] so endearing,� according to Ferrara, “You just loved her because of her eternal optimism.�

“I felt that [Ugly Betty] was going to be something that was really going to ring true to people� Ferrara said, when asked about women and body-image. “I’m just as vulnerable as anyone else to feeling insecure or self-conscious, but the fact that I’m forced to talk about it and confront it through work has made it easier for me to get over that.�

On working with Salma Hayek, Ferrara gushed, “She’s fantastic. She’s a mentor, a role model and so much more.�

Last week, Media reports claimed that Ferrera's long-time boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams proposed last month, and that the couple are quietly planning their wedding.

But Ferrera's representative Carrie Byalick rubbished the reports, telling IMDb her client "is not engaged".

The couple met while they were attending film school in California.
