Elijah Wood recounts his fight with Jared Leto

Last October Elijah Wood was attacked by Jared Leto at the MTVU Woodie Awards, which took place at New York's Roseland Ballroom. In February's Jane magazine, Wood opened up about the bizarre incident, which he called "ridiculous."

The beef between the two actors began because of a comment Elijah had made to Blender magazine back in 2003. He said, "I would never try to be like other actors and attempt to make [music] myself. I mean, have you heard 30 Seconds to Mars?...F**ing awful, man!" Elijah said that at the Woodie Awards Jared "was basically upset at the fact that I said I didn't like his band. He said that initially and then walked away."

After Leto initially approached Wood, the Lord of the Rings actor tried to laugh it off. He says, "I guess he thought I was laughing at him, but I was more shell-shocked and telling people around me, 'Whoa, I just got told off by Jared Leto for not liking his band.' And that's when he came back and grabbed me."

Elijah still seems weirded out by the experience. He told Jane, "I told Jared it wasn't personal. He acted like I'd been disrespecting him or speaking about his family. Things like that don't generally happen to me. I'm very non-confrontational. The whole thing was kind of ridiculous."

At the time, a source for gossip blog, Dlisted dished on the fight. The spy said, "Jared starts whispering stuff in [Elijah's] ear and occasionally pulling back to look him in the face. Jared then walks away and Elijah turns to his date...and says something. Well something about this must have pissed Jared off because he comes running back to the table, grabs Elijah by the neck and starts screaming at him. All I could catch was Jared calling him a 'f**king asshole.' He then shoves Elijah and storms off. Bodyguards come up and Elijah assures everyone he's fine."
