Madonna could be facing new adoption drama, if she goes ahead with the adoption of a baby girl.
The 'Hung Up' singer is said to have fallen in love with Malawi orphan Jessica Kondanani
and is desperate to give her a home, but an Australian couple insist they
are already in the process of adopting the 18-month-old girl and will fight
the singer all the way.
British magazine , Closer claims Madonna and hubby Guy Ritchie had planned to return to Malawi for the girl.
Madonna had first set her sights on 18-month-old orphan Jessica Kondanani when she decided to adopt a Malawian child. But Madonna shifted gears when she discovered little David Banda, the 13-month-old boy she took home to London.
"Her first choice, before David, was a baby girl called Jessica Kondanani," said Penstone Kilembe, Malawi's minister of child welfare.
Australian missionaries Angela Wilmot, 34, and husband John, 42 - who have
already adopted four Malawi children - say they are determined to be the
first to sign the adoption papers.
Angela said: "We were already in the process of adopting Jessica and we hope
we will be successful.
"We heard that Madonna was interested in a child, who we now hear is
Jessica - but we are quite far down the line with our adoption."
Madonna and her director husband Guy Ritchie have lodged their intent to
adopt Jessica and they have already paid a follow-up visit to see her.
Meanwhile, the couple are still waiting to hear if complaints regarding
their temporary adoption of David are to be upheld, after a Malawi judge
failed to reach a ruling yesterday (20.11.06).
In other news, pinup star, Jordan has launched a scathing attack on Madonna, slating her for adopting a foreign baby reports NW Magazine. "We want to adopt a baby," claimed the glamour model. "But... we would never adopt a foreign baby - it wouldn't be fair when there are so many here that need adopting. I would only adopt an English one." Husband Peter Andre agreed, saying what he really wanted for Christmas was "a baby".
