In a new interview with Billboard magazine, Courtney Love reveals she is back is the studio. She’s working with Linda Perry, one of the most sought after songwriters/producers in the business, who brought Love on to her Custard imprint (also the home of Perry’s smash finding James Blunt). Although Love and her team have yet to officially shop the record for a label deal, she is definitely ready for a big comeback!

Love has been sober for over a year. After a string of drug and assault charges, Love says it was jail or rehab…

“I had no choice,� she says. “I was backed up against a wall. I had f**kin’ nothing.�

Linda Perry and Courtney Love started working on this album while Love was in rehab. Love called Perry from rehab, and Perry brought her a guitar…

“It wasn’t some run of the mill guitar,� Love says. “It had a punk sound to it. But my hand eye coordination was so bad, I didn’t even know chords anymore. It was like my fingers were frozen. And I wasn’t allowed to make noise (in rehab). So I’d sit there and try to quietly write and struggle…This is a very personal album.�

“Courtney is the queen of rock and roll to me,� Perry says. “Damn it all to hell. She is the last one.�

So does Love have regrets? She says…

“I always thought I’d be that girl that lives with no regrets,� she confesses. “I have regrets. I’ve written so many amends letters, I can’t even count them. It’s still not enough. Drugs make you an ass**le.�
