Jessica Simpson still talking about Nick Lachey

Pop beauty Jessica Simpson realized her marriage to Nick Lachey was over when he opted out of accompanying her to Africa on a charity trip in October 2000 , People Magazine reports

"I went there on our three-year wedding anniversary," she tells Jane magazine for its November issue. "He stayed home"

Simpson, 26, says the trip changed her life. "On that day, everything became so clear. I was in hospitals with all these sick kids," she says. "I just knew I needed to find something more in my life, on my own."

Jessica also talked parting ways with her rep: "It's been very emotional. But I am my own publicist right now. I've called all the heads of the tabloids. I don't want anyone else to speak for me now. It felt good to call them, but it was hard to find forgiveness. Trust me, if inside sources were my friends, the magazines would have a lot juicier info!"

Jessica on whether her dads comments about her breasts bothered her: "No, I've had double D's for a long time. Are you kidding? No. My family is extremely close. I talk to my mom about my sex life. That's not something that creeps me out. We're Podunk Southern. And my dad is very open about his ideas and...it's disgusting that people would actually think...people are making a judgment on something that is false."

The 'Dukes of Hazzard' beauty has always had a crush on the 'Pirates of the
Caribbean' heartthrob and ended up embarrassing herself when she was
introduced to him at the Teen Choice Awards.
She told US TV show 'The Rachel Ray Show': "I made a fool out of myself
in front of Johnny Depp. Dane Cook and I hosted the Teen Choice Awards and
Johnny made this surprise appearance and I was struck - like by lightening.
"I said all the wrong things and I ended up saying, 'OK, I'm going to shut
up now and walk away.'
"I said it right to his face and it was so embarrassing."

Meanwhile, Jessica has decided to become her own publicist, after her father
Joe fired her public relations officer, Rob Shuter, over his mishandling of
her relationship with singer John Mayer.
She said: "It's been very emotional. But I am my own publicist right now.
I've called all the heads of the tabloids. I don't want anyone else to speak
for me now."
