Jessica Simpson slams John Mayer dating claims

Jessica Simpson has slammed tabloid reports she is dating singer John Mayer and insists the two are just friends.

The 25-year-old star appeared on US talk show The View yesterday, where she discussed the rumors surrounding her personal life.

Simpson appeared on the first day of the 10th season of the show as a favour to new co-host Rosie O'Donnell, who supported her when she was first starting out.

O'Donnell asked: "Is everything going good for you, you're in a good place, you're happy…'

Simpson replied: "I'm in a really good place…"

In other news, Jessica Simpson broke down in tears, as she relived the painful collapse of her marriage to Nick Lachey. The stunning 26-year-old star got intimate about her love life and opened up about her very "Public Affair" with fans.

"It was that first moment of understanding why you have to let go of somebody in your life," she revealed in MTV's new special, "Jessica Simpson: A Public Affair," which airs Monday night.

Jess also revealed that to get through the difficult times, she turned to singing. In the special she also takes viewers through an emotional video diary of the dark days of her divorce.

"This was Christmas for me," she said. "It was weird to go through Christmas and not feel like I was able to celebrate."

Jessica said she turned to her sister Ashley for support during the tough times. "My sister was like, 'Jess, spend the night with me,'" Simpson related, adding that they generally listened to one of Jessica's new songs, "Let Him Fly," a song about her love for Nick.

"So we listened to it together, and we boo-hooed," she admitted. "We both cried so hard. So this song, actually, I was going through a really hard time, a very hard time."
