Anna has a daughter and loses a son

During what should have been one of the happiest moments of Anna Nicole Smith’s life, came one of the saddest moments. Only three days after the Playboy model gave birth to a daughter, her 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, passed away. Smith was in the Bahamas where his mother had given birth.

A statement on Anna’s official website read, "On Sept. 7 Anna Nicole gave birth to a healthy 6 lb., 9 oz. baby girl. Her son Daniel was in the Bahamas with her to share in the joy of his baby sister when he passed away suddenly on the morning of Sept. 10. We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace."

A Bahamas newspaper, the Nassau Guardian, claims that Smith suffered a “massive heart attack,� though it quotes an Inspector as saying, “The cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy has to be performed. Once we would have [carried out] an autopsy, [this] would confirm the exact cause of death."
