Nelly Furtado talks Canadian Idol
International music superstar Nelly Furtado has revelead she would have jumped at the chance to be on Canadian Idol. "If I was a teenager now - in 2006 - trying to get a record deal, I would jump at the chance to be on Canadian Idol. I think it's a great outlet." Sharing her thoughts on Canadian Idol, Furtado said: "I remember watching the first episode on CTV and watching right through to the end and it was really exciting." Furtado is in Toronto working on songs with the Top Ten Idol hopefuls for Canadian Idol episodes next week, beginning Monday. Other moments captured as part of the full eTalk interview airing on Monday include: On meeting the Idols: "I was thrilled to meet them! I told them not to be nervous, because I'm a little nervous!" Advice for Idols: "It's important to stay calm...once the nerves hit you, it's a death sentence. Be confident...don't change anything...and do the performance like the rehearsal." On how she got discovered: "I got discovered at a female talent show for urban R&B and hip hop music... And I was 18 years old and it was right here in Toronto on Bloor Street at a little tiny club called Lee's Palace... I met my manager that night, it was kinda the night I got discovered." Advice for artists just starting out: "Learn an instrument - it gives you power, musical knowledge". Watch the rest of Nelly Furtado's interview and moments from her rehearsals with the Top 10 on Monday night's eTalk, right before the competitors take the stage on Canadian Idol. eTalk, Canada's Most-Watched Entertainment Newsmagazine, airs weeknights at 7 p.m. ET (check local listings) on CTV. |
