"Housewives," "Lost" lose out on Emmy nominations
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the list of nominations this morning. HBO garnered 95 nods while ABC followed with 64 nominations. The Disney-owned network’s hit show, “Grey’s Anatomy� received 11 nominations, which was bested only in the drama series category by “24’s� 12 nominations. The most-nominated program was TNT’s miniseries “Into the West,� which landed 16 nominations. Joining “Grey’s� and “24� in the drama category are “House,� “The Sopranos� and “The West Wing.� Noticeably absent from the list was “Lost,� which won in the category last year. Up for Best Comedy are “Arrested Development,� “Curb Your Enthusiasm,� The Office,� “Scrubs,� and “Two and a Half Men.� There’s going to be a pity party on Wisteria Lane tonight. “Desperate Housewives� was passed over in the comedy category and none of the stars were recognized, though last year three of the five lead actresses on the show were nominated in the Best Lead Actress in a Comedy category. Felicity Huffman ended up taking home the award last September. The show will air on NBC on August 27 with Conan O’Brien as host. A complete list of nominees is available here. |
