Ashlee Simpson won't let her dad run her relationship

When it comes to the Simpson sisters, Ashlee definitely leaves the Daddy’s Little Girl role for Jessica. While Jessica announced she was saving herself for marriage, Ashlee has been coy about her own sexual status. A former preacher, father Joe Simpson can’t be too pleased with his daughter’s life choices. But Ashlee doesn’t let her father run her life. A source close to the family told the National Enquirer, "Ashlee's never been a pushover for her parents. She's pretty much told Joe he can like it or lump it."

Though Joe definitely had a say in Jessica’s marriage to Nick Lachey, 21-year-old Ashlee has told her dad to "butt out" of her relationship with her 20-year-old bandmate, Braxton Olita. Ashlee and Braxton have been dating since the fall of 2005 and are apparently "pre-engaged." "There's no date or ring yet, but there's a deep commitment," an insider told the Enquirer.

Since Joe was rumored to have contributed to Jessica and Nick’s split, Ashlee’s not taking any chances with Braxton. A source said, "When Joe suggested his younger daughter play the field, she held up her hand and told him to back off. Now that she and Braxton are talking marriage, she's giving her father advance warning that his advice is one wedding present she can live without."
