Are CaCee and Nick getting closer?

When CaCee Cobb quit her job as best friend, Jessica Simpson’s personal assistant, inquiring minds wanted to know: Was Cobb after Nick Lachey? Over the years, Cobb has been caught in a couple of questionably-close circumstances with Lachey. Is CaCee more than just friends with her best friend’s ex?

In it’s upcoming issue, Star magazine claims that Cobb has the hots for Lachey. She left her position as Jessica’s assistant because she “wasn’t going to turn her back on Nick,� paraphrases the report the National Ledger. Whether or not there is a romance brewing, Lachey and Cobb have remained close. They went clubbing together on April 8 at Las Vegas’ Pure on April 8 and at LA hotspot Shag on May 1.

Of course CaCee and Nick’s friends claim that the relationship between the pair is purely platonic. "They are friends and that's it," one source told People magazine. Another insider says, "CaCee has always been friends with both Jessica and Nick. [The rumors are] ridiculous."
