Tom Cruise says birth of child was "powerful"

The birth "was everything that we wanted it to be," the actor, who once hopped up and down on a couch to profess his love for Holmes reports AP.

"It was spiritual. It was powerful. It was indescribable," he said in a 20/20 interview broadcast Friday. "What words can you use? It's still something that I'm processing and keep reliving."

The 43-year-old actor also said he has had a great time listening to stories from friends about their children in the days since his daughter was born on Tuesday.

"It was so much fun. Everyone was telling me their experiences about their children," he said.

Cruise did not disclose details about the birth which was to follow a practice called "silent birth," that is recommended by the Church of Scientology, of which both Cruise and Holmes are members.

Katie Holmes had allegedly agreed to deliver her baby in total silence in
accordance with a Scientology tradition.

To help Katie, Cruise reportedly gave her an MP3 player
loaded with mellow music to help her stay silent during childbirth. The hi-tech iPod had over 300 handpicked tracks to help Katie keep mum.

Now that the baby is here, Katie Holmes has been reportedly banned from speaking to her baby for a week.

Meanwhile according to Star Magazine, Tom told Katie that he wants full custody of the baby in case the two of them ever break up. Katie does not plan on granting Tom this wish. “The thought of handing the child over to Tom if they divorce breaks her heart,� a source close to Katie says. “And it shows her that Tom doesn’t think they’ll be together forever.� The issue of religion continues to be a big conflict for the couple, as well as their families.
