So much for those Mortimer rumors, Gwyneth Paltrow’s son is named Moses. The actress gave birth to her second child with Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin over the weekend, her publicist confirmed. Moses was born in New York City. No other information was given.
Moses’s birth comes nearly two years after his sister Apple’s. Apple was born on May 14. Moses is likely named for the song of the same title that his father Chris wrote about mother Gwyneth. Here’s a sample of the lyrics, “Come on now, don't you want to see? Just what a difference you've made in me.
Moses is clearly a biblical name, while Apple isn’t overtly so. Still Paltrow claimed she was influenced by the biblical connotations of the fruit, when she chose her daughter’s name. On Oprah, Gwyneth said, "It conjured such a lovely picture for me - you know, apples are so sweet and they're wholesome and it's biblical - and I just thought it sounded so lovely and clean.
