Angelina Jolie's Baby Danger
According to sources, Angelina Jolie, 30, plans to deliver her baby (due in early May) in Africa. In 2002, the actress spent five weeks in Namibia shooting the drama Beyond Borders. “She had an amazing affinity for Africa, Lloyd Phillips, one of the film’s producers, tells Us Weekly. Angelina thinks giving birth in Africa will help the baby to feel more bonded with her other children who are from third world countries. Brad is not thrilled with Angelina’s ideas of how or where she wants to give birth reports Star Magazine. According to reports, wild lions will help protect Angelina Jolie from the crazy photographers. Some Namibians say they hope Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will be allowed some privacy during their stay in the southwest African country reports Houston Chronicle
TMZ contacted Passport Health for their take on pregnant women traveling to Namibia and giving birth there. Carol DeRosa, the Executive Director and head nurse, said, "I would not recommend it. No one would." Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is on record discouraging pregnant women from traveling to areas where malaria is prevalent, adding that malaria is a "major risk." Malaria causes high fevers, shaking chills, and rigors that can cause premature birth, miscarriage, and stillbirth. Malaria is most prevalent in Namibia between November through June. In addition, DeRosa calls health care in Africa "overwhelmingly poor." |
