She Took a Bad Rap
|
Al Gore has called C. DeLores Tucker "a four-star general in the battle for righteousness." The Bosh announces with sadness that the four-star general has gone to the big pup-tent in the sky. Ms. Tucker was a force in the struggle for civil rights in the United States; in yonder Selma she marched with Dr. Martin Luther King. In the 1990's, she determined to extend her good fight to gangsta rap lyrics, spurred on by the foul language one of her nieces was spouting as a result of listening to so much of it. Through her activity as a public speaker, DeLores had raised in excess of $1 million greenbacks for the NAACP, yet went on strike against their Image Awards when Tupac Shakur got nominated for one. Tupak's gangsta credentials were well in place at the time; he stood accused of sexual assault and also of shooting two Atlanta cops over a traffic problem. Being the diplomatic type, Tupac wrote a rap lyric using outrageous gutter talk against DeLores. After he was killed, she sued his estate for $10 million for defamation, but walked out of court empty handed. If the two meet in celebrity heaven, we hope they can patch it up, or at least have sex.
