For a girl from the unassumingly-named Addiscomb, Croydon, Surrey, England, United Kingdom, Kate Moss has sure captured the attention of billions and warmed their hearts. So what if a few schadenfreude perverts snort with glee when Kate gets busted shoveling out from a snowstorm in her Fendi purse?
Inferring a correlation between Kate's chic, emaciated waif look and an increase in anorexia among young girls, some critics tried to pin the mass anorexia epidemic on the super-model. They fail to appreciate that all the anorexia makes for a desirable social balance to the ever-increasing obesity epidemic.
So when Chanel, Burberry and H&M let Moss fall through the crack, other wiser marketers realized that in fashion advertising, 20-pounds too thin is still considered better than 2 ounces of obesity.
