Wenner Books is the publishing arm of Jann Wenner's media empire, which includes Us Weekly, Men's Journal and Rolling Stone. Its editor, Robert Wallace left the position last week; no replacement has yet been found. The company wants us to believe that Robert's leaving the plum dream job was "amicable."
Amicable or not, Wenner Books is said to be experiencing a total punctuation meltdown. Participles are dangling like there was no tomorrow, orthographic errors are popping up with a mind-numbing frequency and a semi-colon was seen doing something unspeakable with an exclamation mark! This is good news for editors everywhere; it confirms their conviction that writers are inferior and completely expendable in the creation of a book.
"Stairway to Heaven; The Final Resting Place of Rock's Legends," a Wenner title, tells you most of what you need to know about where those rockin' bones came to rest. "Brad and Jenn; The Rise and Fall of Hollywood's Golden Couple," another Wenner release, was written by two celeb specialists moonlighting from their jobs at US. Wenner plans to publish three more books this year and five in the spring, editor or no editor. (By Scott Rose)
