Sexy Singer Mariah Carey and her Emancipation of Mimi album led the nominees for American Music Awards on Tuesday with four nods for favorite pop and soul album as well as female singer in both categories.
Right behind Carey are former American Idol champ Kelly Clarkson, rapper 50 Cent and Green Day, who all scored three nominations apiece.
Nominees for the AMAs are chosen based on record sales, and winners are selected by a survey of about 20,000 listeners.
Carey's Mimi, Clarkson's album Breakaway and Green Day 's American Idiot will compete in the best rock/pop album category.
Nominees in pop/rock, country, soul/rhythm & blues, rap/hip-hop, Latin, alternative, contemporary inspirational and adult contemporary categories were revealed during a news conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Other multiple nominees include Black Eyed Peas, Destiny's Child, Eminem, Fantasia, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw and Gretchen Wilson.
The 33rd annual American Music Awards, hosted by comedian Cedric the Entertainer, will air on ABC Nov. 22 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
