US pop diva Madonna accompanied her husband, director Guy Ritchie down the red carpet for the world premiere of Ritchie's film, Revolver on Sunday night at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Hundreds of fans lined up around the downtown Toronto Roy Thompson Hall hoping to catch a glimpse of the material girl and they were not disappointed.
Madonna and Ritchie arrived just minutes before the scheduled 9:00 pm premiere start time.
"The wife is very good, thanks. Eight broken bones and she's come with me," Ritchie told reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival"
Madonna fell off a horse in mid-August and suffered three cracked ribs,a broken collar bone and a fractured hand. She was celebrating her 47th birthday with her two children and Ritchie at their country estate in Wiltshire in southwest England when the accident happened.
Revolver is a gangster drama that is often violent, often dark and sometimes very funny writes Macleans.ca
The film twists and turns while delving into the psyche of the lead character, Jake Green - played by Jason Statham - a criminal who may hold the keys to the perfect con and defeating any opponent.
Ritchie said the film may be a challenge to theatre-goers. "I think the audience is ready for that," he said.
"It's integral to the confidence trick that you have the illusion of things looking rather complicated," Ritchie said of the film's theme as well as its structure. "But they're actually rather simple."
"The script was not easy to digest on the first read," Ritchie said. But, too many movies are "designed not to make you think".
"I think I got fed up with films that don't make you think. I liked the idea of one that you have to be dancing around with. I like my mind to be engaged when I watch a film. So, the idea was really to put five films in one," he said.
