Celine Dion Speaks Out |

Celine Dion interviewed on Larry King Live slammed the Bush administration for its lethargic initial response to the catastrophe in the Gulf Coast.
Visibly upset, the Canadian diva said: "How come it's so easy to send planes in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives?" That is a damned good question, to which Cindy Sheehan obviously will never receive an answer from the jerky commander in chief.
Putting her money where her mouth is, Celine donated one million dollars to storm victims.
While Celine is correct to decry the sluggish initial rescue effort, even more energy needs to go into denouncing Bush's policies and how they made this crisis as dire as it is. Shall we review? 1) He undid environmental protection measures and allowed developers to build on wetlands necessary to the proper build-up of protective silts in the Mississippi Delta 2) He refused to finance a buttressing of the levees though many reports made clear the dangers of not refurbishing them 3) He undid FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and then allowed Michael Brown to become its head, when that man had been fired from his previous job at the International Arabian Horse Association.
The Bosh appreciates that it has a spectrum of readers with diverse opinions. However, the unacceptable challenges which George W. Bush presents the nation and the world go way, way beyond questions of Democrat vs. Republican or liberal vs. conservative. Through his incompetence, deceit and sheer idiocy, this man is putting all of us in extremely perilous circumstances.
Celine Dion's heart will go on, but what are we going to do if Bush is left in place and three or four major and avoidable catastrophes later, our ability to survive and prosper is in the same position as one of the dead floating down a flooded New Orleans street? (By Scott Rose)
