Andre 3000 AKA Andre Benjamin has signed a one-year development deal to produce feature films and cable TV series for the MTV and Nickelodeon cable channels.
The musician from Grammy-winning hip-hop duo OutKast, will kick off his agreement with the Viacom-owned outlets by developing "The Hit," a feature he will co-produce and star in for the kid-oriented Nickelodeon Movies reports Reuters.
"This is a groundbreaking agreement, the first ever that includes two brands -- MTV and Nick across four different divisions," said David Gale, executive vice president, MTV Films who made the announcement with Julia Pistor, senior vp, Nickelodeon Movies. "This is a testament to Andre's profound influence as a music, fashion and pop culture icon."
He is currently working with Nickelodeon Movies on its animated adaptation of "Charlotte's Web," where he voices a dimwitted crow named Elwyn.
"I think this is just another avenue to put ideas through -- it's the same approach I take when I produce and write songs," Andre 3000 told the New York Post. "I wanted to take it to the family television and the DVD world."
