As the Catholic world smugly congratulates itself on having nominated an arch-bigot to be its leader, some news sources are recalling the Nazistic qualities of his past pronouncements, including one that virtually advocates violence against homosexuals. RATzinger wrote "When homosexual activity is condoned, or when civil legislation is introduced to protect behavior to which no one has any conceivable right, neither the church nor society at large should be surprised when other distorted notions and practices gain ground, and irrational and violent reactions increase." If you agree with what RATzinger wrote, there is alas most likely little in the way of scientific reasoning that could bring you around to a more enlightened viewpoint; but if you disagree with him, then you might join with us in wishing for a pigeon to poop on his head the next time he appears at his Vatican window.
