Normal Mailer's Writings Heading South
|
Norman Mailer, the author of "The Naked And The Dead," one of the most influential American novels about World War II, has sold his manuscripts and letters to the University of Texas for $2.5 million. That university is energentically positioning itself as a storehouse of contemporary American letters and with this acquisition has scored a major coup. Mailer didn't make out too bad in the deal either. Though Norman couldn't be reached for a direct comment to The Bosh, we feel certain he would have made some cantankerous, unpleasant, brilliant remark. (By Scott Rose) |
