Maroulis's band gets record deal |

You may not have heard of Constantine Maroulis yet, but one record label is wagering that you're going to like him. Constantine, the poppier of the two "rock" contestants on this season of "American Idol", has just scored a record deal for his band, Pray for the Soul of Betty (PSB). PSB, which supposedly "sounds distinctively like a New York City band should sound: intense, raw and powerful", signed with Koch records, the label that infamously picked up "Idol" reject, William Hung. Koch has gotten around the sticky "Idol" contract because Maroulis signed his rights to the band before going on the show. Unfortunately for PSB and for Koch, he is not allowed to go on tour with the group. "Legally, I think we're OK," said a Koch spokesperson. Should Constantine, a popular favorite with the judges and the ladies, win the competition this year, it's likely that PSB will do pretty well even without the tour. "The reason why he's doing 'American Idol' is for the band, not for anything else," said PSB drummer, Hamboussi.
