Weekend Celebrity Update
On Friday, Christina Applegate broke her foot during the opening number of her musical, Sweet Charity, in Chicago. Her understudy took over her role and will continue to do so for the show's Boston run. Applegate is expected to return to the stage when the musical starts on Broadway next month. Them's the breaks. More celeb news after the jump. Friday was a great day for tennis player Pete Sampras and his wife, Bridgette Wilson. They announced that they were expecting their second child that day. The baby is due in the fall. On Saturday, Rod Stewart's record label announced that he has proposed to his girlfriend of five years, Penny Lancaster. 60-year-old Stewart popped the question to 33-year-old Lancaster on the top of the Eiffel Tower on Wednesday and she said, "yes". How sweet. Also on Saturday, director Alexander Payne and his actress wife, Sandra Oh announced that they were separating. Oh starred in Payne's Academy-Award-winning film, Sideways. It seems mighty convenient that they broke up after appearing so chummy during the awards season. How embarrassing. Prince William fell from his horse on Saturday while playing in a charity polo match. Luckily, the only thing that was injured was his pride. The event raised about $50k for tsunami relief. |
