Karl Haas, Prince Of The Airwaves
|
Karl Haas, the long-time host of "Adventures in Good Music" has died of natural causes at the age of 91. Trained as a concert pianist, Mr. Haas enjoyed longevity with "Adventures" which won two Peabody Awards for excellence in broadcasting and which in 1997 became the first classical music program inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. His programs often had clever titles, such as "Haydn, Go Seek," "From Stern to Bow" (about violinist Isaac Stern), "Baroque and in Debt" and "The Joy Of Sax." Despite Karl Hass' efforts to elevate society, society wound up thinking of the three B's as being Brittney, Beyonce and Bush. (By Scott Rose) |
