Valerie Hermann has left Christian Dior where she has been in charge of women's ready-to-wear since 1999 to take on the position of chief executive at its struggling Yves Saint Laurent brand. Hermann, 41, will work alongside YSL's new designer, Stefano Pilati, who took over last year after Tom Ford left the company. Valerie Hermann will assume the position during the second quarter of 2005 and takes over from James McArthur, who will continue as Director of strategy and acquisitions overseeing the Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga Brands
